Consider the following scenario:
| • | You install Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 in the root domain of a
forest. |
| • | You create an alternative domain tree in the forest that has a
completely non-contiguous
namespace, and then you prepare it for Exchange. |
| • | You create mailboxes for the users of the alternative
domain tree on the Exchange server. |
| • | In the Exchange Management Console, you start the Message
Tracking tool, and then you try to resolve a sender name or a recipient name that belongs to the
alternative domain tree. |
In this scenario, no user is resolved, and nothing is
returned.
This problem occurs because the corresponding directory
lookup function makes assumptions that are based only on the root
domain. Therefore, the directory lookup function misses the alternative domain
tree that has a non-contiguous namespace.
