Error message when a Web application that is hosted on a server that is running Internet Information Services 6.0 requests an ASP page: "HTTP 500 - Internal Server Error"

Consider the following scenario. A Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2 (SP2)-based server is running Internet Information Services (IIS) 6.0. A Web application that is hosted on this server has a Global.asa file that is 0 bytes. In this scenario, you receive the following error message when the Web application requests a Microsoft Active Server Pages (ASP) page:Additionally, an ASP error message that resembles the following is logged in the IIS log for the failed request:

To work around this problem, use one of the following techniques:

• Delete the empty Global.asa file.
• Add script to the Global.asa file so that the file is not 0 bytes.
