SYMPTOMS

If you paste cells from a Microsoft Excel 97 worksheet into a mail message, the result is a picture pasted into the mail message, instead of an embedded Microsoft Excel object.

CAUSE

When you paste something into a message, Microsoft Exchange is not notified that you are pasting from Microsoft Excel, so it uses a default paste type of "picture" for the object, rather than embedding the clipboard contents as an embedded Microsoft Excel object.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft Exchange clients, version 4.0, listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in Microsoft Exchange Server 4.0 U.S. Service Pack 4. For information on obtaining the service pack, query on the following word in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

APPLIES TO
