Free Disk Space Does Not Change After Running Disk Cleanup

When you use the Microsoft Disk Cleanup tool on the General tab of the properties of a drive to remove files from your hard disk, the amount of free hard disk space reported on the Drive Properties dialog box may not change.

This behavior occurs because the Drive Properties dialog box is not refreshed after the Disk Cleanup tool finishes.

To view the amount of free space reclaimed on the hard disk after running the Disk Cleanup tool, close and reopen the Drive Properties dialog box.
