SUMMARY

This article describes how to combine text from two or more fields into one field in a Works for Windows database.

MORE INFORMATION

To combine text from two or more fields into one field, you must use the AMPERSAND (&) key to join the fields.

In a blank database field, type an EQUAL SIGN (=), type the name of the first field you want to include, and then type an AMPERSAND (&).

For example, to combine a field named "First Name" with a field named "Last Name," type the following line, and then press ENTER:
=First Name&Last Name
To insert a space between the fields, type a QUOTATION MARK ("), press the SPACEBAR, type another QUOTATION MARK ("), type another AMPERSAND (&), and then type the name of the field you want to combine with the first field.

If, for example, you want to combine a field named "First Name" with a field named "Last Name" and you want to separate the fields with a space, type the following line, and then press ENTER:
=First Name&" "&Last Name
