SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to change printer properties, you may receive the following error message:
Error: The printer name is invalid, it cannot contain "!", "\", ",".

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if you upgrade from Microsoft Windows NT 3.51 and the printer name contains one of the characters in the error message. These characters cannot be used in Windows 2000.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, rename the printer without using an invalid character.
