SYMPTOMS

When you try to import e-mail messages in Outlook Express 5, you may receive the following error message:
MSIMN caused an invalid page fault in Pimab32.dll.

CAUSE

This issue can be caused if you have the Compaq Address Book service in your Microsoft Exchange or Microsoft Messaging profile.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, contact Compaq to inquire about the availability of a fix for this issue.

To work around this issue, remove the Compaq Address Book service from the profile:
  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Mail and Fax or Mail, click Compaq Address Book, and then click Remove.
