Disabled Hardware Devices Enabled After Upgrading Windows 98

SYMPTOMS

After you upgrade a computer from Microsoft Windows 98 to Windows 2000 Professional, any hardware devices that were disabled using Device Manager in Windows 98 are enabled.

CAUSE

Windows 2000 does not preserve the list of disabled hardware devices during the upgrade process.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
