Cannot Create a Dfs Link Under a Current Dfs Link

SYMPTOMS

There is no option to create a new Microsoft distributed file system (Dfs) link for any current Dfs link in the Distributed File System snap-in. You cannot create links under current links; you can create only replicas.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.

For example, the relevant part of a Dfs tree might be:
   DFS
   |
   |--Tools
   |--Flats
   |--Users A-M
   |--Users N-Z
				
In this example, "Users N-Z" might point to the \\Company\Users share.

There are no provisions in DFS Manager for creating Dfs links under any of the four current Dfs links shown above.
