SYMPTOMS

When you select a folder on the network that is located on a Windows-based computer, the Make Available Offline command appears on the File menu in Windows Explorer. However, when you select a folder on the network that is located on a NetWare server, the Make Available Offline command does not appear. Instead, the Map Network Drive command appears.

CAUSE

Offline files work only with SMB servers, not with NCP servers.

RESOLUTION

These files can be made available for offline access by sharing the files on a server running Gateway Services for NetWare (GSNW).

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
