When you attempt to start Microsoft Works Database in Microsoft Works 2000 or Microsoft Works 6, you may receive the following error message:
There is not enough memory to run this program.
If you attempt to start Works Database after you receive this error message, you receive the following error message:
Wksss.exe could not be found. Error code 8.
This behavior can occur if insufficient hard disk space is available on
your computer.
To resolve this issue, increase the amount of available hard disk space
on your computer:
- Right-click the Recycle Bin icon on the desktop, and
then click Empty Recycle Bin. If you are prompted to
confirm the file deletion, click Yes.
- Back up and then remove any files on the hard disk that you
do not use frequently.

and then double-click the Backing up files
or Backing up files, folders topic. - Delete any unnecessary files on the hard disk.

or Deleting files, folders topic. - Uninstall any unnecessary programs on the hard disk:
- Click Start, point to Settings and then
click Control Panel.
- Double-click the Add/Remove Programs.
- Click the Install/Uninstall tab.
- Click the program that you want to uninstall, and then
click Add/Remove.
- When you are prompted to confirm that you want to uninstall
the program, click Yes.
- Follow the instructions on the screen to uninstall the
program.
