Works: Text Box in Document Header Is Not Displayed

SYMPTOMS

When you open a Rich Text Format (RTF) file in the Microsoft Works Word Processor, the text box in the header of the document, or any text that is contained inside the text box, is not displayed.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because you cannot insert a text box in a document header in the Works Word Processor.

RESOLUTION

To work around this issue, use one of the following methods.

Method 1

  1. Start the Works Word Processor, and then open the RTF file that you want.
  2. On the View menu, click Header and Footer.
  3. Re-create the missing text in the document header.

Method 2

  1. Start Microsoft Word 2000, and then open the RTF file that you want.
  2. On the View menu, click Header and Footer.
  3. Select the text that is contained inside the text box in the document header.
  4. On the Edit menu, click Copy.
  5. Quit Word 2000.
  6. Start the Works Word Processor, and then open the RTF file that you want.
  7. On the View menu, click Header and Footer.
  8. Place the insertion point inside the document header at the position where you want the text to start.
  9. On the Edit menu, click Paste.
