When you run Microsoft Works 2000 Word Processor, you may notice that CPU usage is at or near 100 percent.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if the Background spell checking option in Works 2000 Word Processor is selected.
RESOLUTION
To prevent this issue from occurring, disable the Background spell checking option. To do this:

Even if you run Works 2000 Word Processor with the Background spell checking option selected and CPU usage at 100 percent, neither the functionality of Works 2000 Word Processor nor that of any other program you may be running concurrently with Works 2000 Word Processor is affected in an adverse way. If you switch to another program by clicking the program's taskbar button or by minimizing the Works 2000 Word Processor window, CPU usage returns to a normal level.
