SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to open a Microsoft Works 4.5 document with Microsoft Word, you may receive the following message:
Microsoft Word can't import the specified format. This feature is not currently installed. Would you like to install it now?

CAUSE

This behavior can occur because the Works 4.5 text converter is not automatically installed in a Typical Works Suite installation.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, insert the Microsoft Works Suite 2000 Disc 1 CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive, and then click Yes.

The Works 4.5 text converter is automatically installed.

NOTE: If you click Yes and the Microsoft Works Suite 2000 Disc 1 CD-ROM is not in the CD-ROM drive, you receive the following message:
The feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other removable disk that is not available. Insert the Microsoft Word disk and click OK.
To continue to install the Works 4.5 text converter, insert the Works Suite 2000 Disc 1 CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive, and then click OK.
