Works 2000: Minimum System Requirements

This articles lists the minimum system requirements needed to run Microsoft Works 2000.

To run Works 2000, you need:

• A multimedia PC with a Pentium 90 MHz or faster processor.
• Microsoft Windows 95 or Microsoft Windows 98 operating system or later.
• 16 megabytes (MB) of RAM (32 MB recommended).
• 120-155 megabytes of available hard disk space.
• Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 (included) or later.
• A quad-speed or faster CD-ROM drive.
• A Microsoft Mouse or compatible pointing device.
• A Super-VGA, 256-color monitor supporting 640 x 480 or higher resolution (800 x 600 recommended).
• A 14,400 bits-per-second (bps) or faster modem.
• Internet access, which may require payment of a separate fee to an Internet service provider.

To run Works Suite 2000, you need the following: Works Suite 2000 System Requirements:

• Multimedia PC with Pentium 166 MHz or higher processor.
• Microsoft Windows 95 or Windows 98 operating system or later.
• 24 megabytes (MB) of RAM; 32 MB of RAM recommended.
• 785 MB - 1.4 GB of available hard-disk space for installation of all applications; 820 MB for a typical installation.
• Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 software (included)
• Quad-speed or faster CD-ROM drive.
• Super VGA, 256-color monitor supporting 640x480 or higher resolution; 800x600 recommended.
• Microsoft Mouse, Microsoft Intellimouse, or compatible pointing device.
• Local bus video with 1 MB or more of video memory.
• 16-bit sound card with speakers or headphones recommended.

Additional items or services required to use certain features include:

• 28,800 or higher-baud modem.
• Intenet access, which may require payment of a separate fee to an internet service provider.
• 1 MB of additional hard-disk space for each monthly installment in Encarta 2000.
• 8 MB of additional hard-disk space to run Office E-mail.
• Windows compatible color printer for full-color output.
• Microphone required for voice recording.
• Microsoft Outlook 2000 messaging and collaboration client or Microsoft Outlook Express 5.0 (included) or later required to run Office E-mail.
• MAPI-enabled e-mail client required to mail pictures and project to others.
