SYMPTOMS

When you create a scatter chart with Microsoft Works Spreadsheet, and you then apply the Use logarithmic scale setting to the vertical axis, all data on the vertical axis may appear positive (or greater than zero).

CAUSE

This behavior can occur because charts that cross the zero boundary (and therefore contain both positive and negative values) cannot be plotted correctly on a logarithmic scale.

RESOLUTION

To work around this issue, do not use the logarithmic scale if your chart is composed of data that contains both negative and positive values.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

APPLIES TO
  • Microsoft Works 6.0
  • Microsoft Works Suite 2001
