Works 6: Pasting HTML to Portfolio Makes Object Appear Solid Black

SYMPTOMS

When you drag or paste an HTML text object into Microsoft Works Portfolio, the text object may appear as a solid black box.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if your computer is configured to use a 256 color palette and the background color of the HTML text object is not white.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, change the Microsoft Windows color palette to High Color (16 bit) or greater. To do so, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Display.
  3. Click the Settings tab.
  4. Under Colors, click High Color (16 bit) or greater.
  5. Click OK to apply the new setting.
