Works Word Processor Error Message When You Close a Document

SYMPTOMS

When you close a Microsoft Works 6 Word Processor document, you may receive the following error message:
Wkswp has caused an error in
WKWPQUIL.DLL.
Wkswp will now close.

If you continue to experience problem,
try restarting your computer.
When you close a Microsoft Works 7 Word Processor document, you may receive the following error message:
Microsoft Works has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. If you were in the middle of something, the information you were working on might be lost. Please tell Microsoft about this problem We have created an error report that you can send to help us improve Microsoft Works. We will treat this report as confidential and anonymous. To see what data this report contains, click here.
When you click click here, the following Error signature is listed:
AppName: wkswp.exe  AppVer: 7.2.620.0  ModName: wkwpquil.dll
ModVer: 7.2.620.0  Offset: 000013ae

CAUSE

This problem may occur if you do all of the following:
  1. On the View menu, click Header and Footer.
  2. On the Header and Footer toolbar, click the Insert Document Name button.
  3. Select the document name in the header, on the Edit menu click Copy.
  4. Paste the document name into your document.
  5. Select the document name, and then close the document, with or without saving the document.

RESOLUTION

To prevent this problem from occurring, do not select the document name that you copied from the header before closing the document.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Works 6.
