SYMPTOMS

When you use the Microsoft Fax service in Windows 2000, if you receive a fax document, the Fax Notification icon is activated in the system tray. However, you cannot open the My Faxes folder by double-clicking this icon.

This problem occurs with the Japanese version of Windows 2000.

CAUSE

This issue occurs because a string has been localized that should not have been localized.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.
