SYMPTOMS

When you install the Microsoft Digital Sound System 80 (DSS80) software on a Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition-based computer, you receive the following error message:
This program is incompatible with this version of Windows. To exit, click Cancel. For more information, click Details.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because the DSS80 software is not compatible with Windows Millennium Edition.

MORE INFORMATION

Windows Millennium Edition includes a driver for the DSS80 speakers, but does not include enhanced features that are included in the DSS80 software, such as the Graphic Equalizer utility.

NOTE: If you upgrade your operating system from Microsoft Windows 98 to Windows Millennium Edition, and the DSS80 software was working properly in Windows 98, then the DSS80 software continues to function in Windows Millennium Edition. However, you are unable to reinstall the software, and you cannot install the DSS80 software on a clean installation of Windows Millennium Edition.
