To prevent the Works Portfolio from starting each time you start Windows, follow these steps:
  1. If the Works Portfolio is in Docked or Gallery View, click Tasks, and then click Options.

    If the Works Portfolio is in Compact View, click the top of the Portfolio box to expand the list of commands on the menu.
  2. Click to remove the check mark next to Start the Works Portfolio every time I start Windows.
  3. Click OK.
To manually start the Works Portfolio, follow these steps:
  1. Start the Works Task Launcher. To do this, use one of the following methods:
    1. Double-click the Microsoft Works Suite icon on the Windows desktop.
    2. Click Start, point to Programs, point to Microsoft Works, and then click Microsoft Works Task Launcher.
  2. Click Programs, and then click Works Portfolio in the left pane.
  3. In the right pane, click Works Portfolio, compact view, or Works Portfolio, gallery view.
  4. Click Start this task.
