Works: Maximum Number of Form Screen Pages per Record

SUMMARY

In Microsoft Works for Windows, the maximum size of the database form view is 22.75 inches square. In most cases, this translates to a maximum of between two and three pages per record, although the actual number varies depending on the page size and margins.

In Works for MS-DOS, the maximum form length is 256 lines, which in most cases is about 40 inches or five pages per record. Databases from Works for MS-DOS with forms that map to more than 22.75 inches look incorrect when opened in Works for Windows. The extra fields overlap at the bottom of the last page of the Works for Windows form and are unreadable.

Although there isn't a workaround for the length limitation, you can fit more fields onto the Works for Windows form view by increasing the form width. For example, using legal paper in landscape orientation allows you to use a maximum form width of 14 inches instead of 8.5 inches.
