SYMPTOMS

When you download many e-mail messages from an HTTP server that is on a slow connection in Microsoft Outlook 2002, you may receive the following error message one minute after the download process begins:

A connection to the server could not be established. http: //yourserver.yourcompany.com/test.microsoft is now in offline mode.

If you click Details in the error message, you receive the following error message:

There may be server or network problems or your timeout interval may be too short. Please search Microsoft Outlook Help for [HTTP Mail]" Troubleshooting.

Additionally, this issue can also occur when you send a large e-mail message by using an HTTP service that is on a slow connection. In this situation, Outlook 2002 will start the sending process. However, after one minute, you receive the following error message in the Outlook Send/Receive Progress window:

Task 'http::/yourserver.yourcompany.com - Sending reported error (0x800CCC19) : 'A timeout occurred while communicating with the server.

CAUSE

This issue occurs because the default 60 seconds timeout value for HTTP operations has been exceeded

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, install Microsoft Office XP Service Pack 3 (SP3)
