Description of the Microsoft Windows Registry On This PageSUMMARYWhen you run the Microsoft Exchange Server Migration Wizard to move mailbox data to your Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 computer, the migration process may take a very long time. In this scenario, the migration process may appear to stop responding (hang) for up to one hour when the Migration Wizard tries to migrate data from a particular mailbox. Additionally, the following event may appear one or more times in the Application log in Event Viewer: Event Type: Error

MORE INFORMATIONThis behavior occurs if the Migration Wizard cannot log on to one or more mailboxes successfully. If the Migration Wizard cannot log on to a mailbox, the Migration Wizard retries the logon attempt for 60 minutes before it continues to the next mailbox. For example, if the Migration Wizard cannot log on to 10 mailboxes during the migration process, you may experience a delay of up to 10 hours before the mailbox migration process is completed. Update informationA supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Message 2 The maximum number of attempts made by Migration Wizard to open a mailbox is being overwritten by registry setting SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Exchange\\MSExchangeMailMig\\MaxMailboxLogonRetries. The Migration Wizard will now try to open a mailbox for XX attempts before reporting failure.
