SYMPTOMS

On your Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server computer, the available memory decreases gradually over time. This symptom may be especially noticeable on a public folder server. When the available memory becomes too low, you must restart your server to regain functionality.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because allocated memory is not freed correctly when a specific Exchange 2000 function is called. The function is called every time that a replication message is sent. Therefore, the symptom is more noticeable on a public folder server, where both content replication and hierarchy replication occur.

Hotfix information

This hotfix has the following prerequisites:

Restart requirement

You do not have to restart your computer after you apply this hotfix. However, the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service and its dependent services are automatically restarted during the hotfix installation.
