You receive the "Initialization of Setup failed" error message when you install Works Suite 2005

When you try to install Microsoft Works Suite 2005, you may receive the following error message:

This issue may occur if one of the following conditions is true:

• You eject the Works Suite Setup CD during the installation process.
• The Setup program had a problem reading the CD during initialization.

To resolve this issue, delete the files that were left behind the first time that you tried to install Works Suite 2005.

Note If the Microsoft Windows operating system is installed to a drive other then drive C:\, you may have to switch to this drive to locate the Works Suite 2005 folder.

1. Right-click Start, and then click Explore.
2. Locate the following folder:
   C:\Program Files\Microsoft Works Suite 2005
   .
3. Right-click the Microsoft Works Suite 2005 folder, and then click Delete.
4. If you are prompted to confirm the deletion of the folder, click Yes.
5. Close all the windows that are open, quit all the programs that are running, and then try to install Works Suite 2005 again.
