Error message when you run the Exchange Configuration Wizard for MOM: "Unable to add the Exchange view only rights to the ldap object"

When you run the Microsoft Exchange Configuration Wizard for MOM in a domain environment that includes parent/child domains, you may receive the following error message:

This issue may occur if you do not have the permissions that are required to add the mailbox access account at the level that is indicated in the error message.

To resolve this issue, install the latest version of the Microsoft Exchange Server Management Pack for MOM 2005 on the computer that is running Microsoft Operations Manager 2005. To obtain the latest version of the management pack, visit the following Microsoft Web site: Note After you install this management pack, the Microsoft Exchange Configuration Wizard for MOM will finish. However, the mailbox access account will not be created unless you use one of the methods that are described in the "Workaround" section.

To work around this issue, use one of the following methods:

• If you are an administrator, give Exchange full administrative permissions at the organization level to the account that is running the Microsoft Exchange Server Management Pack for MOM.
• Ask someone that has Exchange full administrative permissions at the organization level to manually give you the permissions that are required to add the mailbox access account.
