The Setup program does not start when you insert the Works CD

When you insert the CD for one of the versions of Microsoft Works listed in the "Applies To" section, the Works Setup program does not start.

This behavior may occur if Works is already installed on your computer.

To work around this behavior, if you want to remove Works from your computer, reinstall Works, or select a different installation option, use one of the following methods to start the Microsoft Works Installation Wizard.

Note Because there are several versions of Microsoft Windows, the following steps may be different on your computer. If they are, see your product documentation to complete these steps.

Change your installation option by using Add or Remove programs

1. Click Start, click Run, type appwiz.cpl in the Open box, and then click OK.
2. In the list of programs, click the version of Works that you have installed, and then click Change.
3. On the Welcome back screen, click Next.
4. Click one of the following options, and then click Next:
   • Remove
   • Reinstall
   • Change installation
5. Follow the remaining steps in the Works Installation Wizard.

Change your installation option by using Setup.exe on the CD

1. Insert the Works installation CD.
2. Click Start, click Run, type Drive:\setup.exe in the Open box, and then click OK, where Drive is the letter drive of your CD drive.
3. On the Welcome back screen, click Next.
4. Click one of the following options, and then click Next:
   • Remove
   • Reinstall
   • Change installation
5. Follow the remaining steps in the Works Installation Wizard.

The Works CD is designed so that if Works is already installed on the computer, the Setup program does not start automatically when you insert the CD. This behavior lets you insert the disc and access additional content, such as clip art without automatically starting the installation program.
