The Exchange Connector for Lotus Notes crashes when a user sends a recurring appointment to a Lotus Notes server

When Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 or Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server sends a recurring appointment to a Lotus Notes server through the Exchange Connector for Lotus Notes, an access violation may occur. When this problem occurs, the Exchange Connector for Lotus Notes crashes. Therefore, mail flow is disrupted.

This problem may occur if the user who sends the recurring appointment is in one of the following time zones:

• (GMT+5:45) Kathmandu
• (GMT+13:00) Nuku'alofa
• (GMT+6:30) Rangoon

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Because of file dependencies, this hotfix requires Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1).

Restart requirement

When you apply this hotfix, you have the option to stop the Microsoft Exchange Connector for Lotus Notes during the installation process. If you do not stop the Connector for Lotus Notes, you must restart the computer for the hotfix to take effect.
