SYMPTOMS

In a Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server organization, when you try to move a mailbox from one server to another server, the server to which you moved the mailbox may stop responding. Or, both servers may stop responding. Additionally, the Exchange services that are involved in the operation may no longer be available. This behavior also occurs when you try to move a mailbox from one store to another store on the same server.

You must restart the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service on the server or on both servers to resume the Exchange services.
