SYMPTOMS

When you perform a search of multiple mailboxes that contain many items in Microsoft Exchange Server 2003, the search fails. Additionally, the failed search task remains in the search queue. Therefore, new searches fail as soon as the number of failed searches in the search queue reaches the maximum search thread value.

CAUSE

When multiple threads try to clean up the search folder in mailboxes that contain many items, a "version store out of memory" error occurs.
