This article lists the Microsoft COM+ bugs that are fixed in Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Post-Service Pack 1 (SP1) COM+ 1.5 Hotfix Rollup Package 8. Each package contains all the fixes that were released in the previous Windows Server 2003 COM+ 1.5 hotfix rollup packages.
The following issues are fixed in this hotfix rollup package. These issues were not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article.
The Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator (MSDTC) stops responding when it is writing to a log file. This issue occurs when the computer is under a heavy load.
The MSDTC does not correctly decrement the total log space used when an error occurs.
A deadlock condition occurs in the Svchost.exe instance that hosts the COM+ Event System service.
When you use the SaveChanges method to add a new transient subscription to the TransientSubscription collection, you may receive an "Access is denied" error message. This error message has an error code of 80070005.
The proportions of embedded images are incorrect.
The Update.exe file stops responding when you are applying a hotfix. This issue occurs because of a race condition between connection down processing and a new connection registering the IConnectionSink interface.
Wording on the Security tab in the Internet Properties dialog box is changed.
Security is improved because of changes in the proxy creation code in the Ole32.dll file.
The Ole32.dll file incorrectly returns a success code when reading proxy-stub CLSID information from the registry fails.
SafeArray structures that contain a user-defined data type are not marshaled correctly.
MSDTC does not start on an AMD64-based computer.
File security is improved because file mapping and the mapping handle are closed before the file handle is closed.
A cluster name may be incorrectly returned when the GetHostName function is called.
The TransactionBridge CLSID is not correctly read in a cluster environment.
An active log file may be incorrectly deleted. This issue may cause all event processing to stop.
Code defects in data unmarshaling paths may cause failfast issues and memory leak issues.
A code defect causes a null pointer to be incorrectly referenced.
An event message is logged when Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) intrinsics are not marshaled correctly.
