Multiple signatures are added to e-mail messages that you forward in Outlook 2003

SYMPTOMS

When you forward multiple e-mail messages in Microsoft Office Outlook 2003, multiple signatures are added to the e-mail messages.

CAUSE

This behavior may occur when the following conditions are true:
  • You created a signature for new e-mail messages.
  • You created a signature for e-mail messages that you reply to or forward.
  • You selected the Rich Text option in the Compose in this message format list.
  • You forwarded more than one e-mail message at the same time.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, use Microsoft Office Word 2003 as your e-mail editor. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Start Outlook 2003.
  2. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  3. Click the Mail Format tab.
  4. Click to select the Use Microsoft Office Word 2003 to edit e-mail messages check box.
  5. Click OK to close the Options dialog box.
