SYMPTOMS

When you try to start an application in Microsoft SoftGrid, you receive the following error message:
The SoftGrid Client could not launch the application you requested.
The system cannot find the file specified.
Error code: xxxxxx-xxxxxx64-00000003

CAUSE

This problem may occur because one of the following conditions is true:
  • The path of the global data directory is invalid.
  • The OSD Cache folder does not exist. For example, the OSD Cache folder may have been manually removed.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, use one of the following methods, depending on the cause of the problem.

The path of the global data directory is invalid

To resolve this problem, follow these steps.

Warning Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly by using Registry Editor or by using another method. These problems might require that you reinstall the operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that these problems can be solved. Modify the registry at your own risk.
  1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
  2. Locate and then click the following registry key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Softricity\SoftGrid Client\CurrentVersion\Configuration
  3. Right-click GlobalDataDirectory, and then click Modify..
  4. Note the path that is specified in the Value Data box.
  5. Close the Edit String dialog box, and then exit Registry Editor.
  6. In Windows Explorer, open the path that you noted in step 4.
  7. If the path does not exist, use one of the following methods:
    • Create the path.
    • In Registry Editor, modify the value of the GlobalDataDirectory registry value to reflect the path that you want to use.
  8. Stop and then start the SoftGrid Client service.
