INTRODUCTION

This article describes the command-line installation parameters for Microsoft SoftGrid Virtual Application Server 3.x.

Important The information that is provided in this article applies only when you install an additional SoftGrid Virtual Application Server to an existing SoftGrid environment. This article does not apply when you install the first server in an environment. When you install the first server in an environment, you must manually perform the installation.

The following table describes the SoftGrid command-line parameters that are available for the SoftGrid Virtual Application Server.

DB_HOSThost nameThis parameter specifies the host name of the database server.

An example of this is DB_HOST=SGSQLSRV.
DB_USERuser nameThis parameter specifies the user name of the account that is used to access the database when you perform an upgrade.

An example of this is DB_USER=sa.
DB_PASSpasswordThis parameter specifies the password of the account that is specified by DB_USER. This account is used to access the database when you perform an upgrade.

An example of this is DB_PASS=sapassword.
DB_ADMIN_USERuser nameThis parameter specifies the user name of the account that is used to access the database when you add a new server to an existing database.

An example of this is DB_ADMIN_USER=softricity.
DB_ADMIN_PASSpasswordThis parameter specifies the password of the account that is specified by the DB_ADMIN_USER parameter. This account is used to access the database when you add a new server to an existing database.

An example of this is DB_ADMIN_PASS=softricitypassword.
DB_SERVICEdatabase nameThis parameter specifies the database name.

An example of this is DB_SERVICE=SOFTRICITY.
DB_SERVICE_IS_VALID[true|false]The value must be set to "true."

An example of this is DB_SERVICE_IS_VALID=true.
DB_SCHEMA_IS_VALID[true|false]The value must be set to "true."

An example of this is DB_SCHEMA_IS_VALID=true.
SERVER_CONTENT_PATHpath nameThis parameter specifies the directory of the CONTENT directory.

An example of this is SERVER_CONTENT_PATH="D:\content".

Examples of how the parameters are used

The following example uses the .msi file. Notice that the Microsoft Windows Installer switch /q is used to make this a silent installation.
Msiexec.exe /i "SoftGrid Virtual Application Server(TM).msi" ADDLOCAL=Release_SoftGrid_Server
INSTALLDIR="D:\Program Files\Softricity"
SERVER_CONTENT_PATH="D:\content"
DB_HOST=SGSQLSRV
DB_USER=sa
DB_PASS=sapassword
DB_SERVICE=SOFTRICITY
DB_SERVICE_IS_VALID=true
DB_SCHEMA_IS_VALID=true /qb+
Important Line breaks were added to this example for legibility. If you use this command, make sure that you enter the text as one long string, as follows:
Msiexec.exe /i "SoftGrid Virtual Application Server(TM).msi" ADDLOCAL=Release_SoftGrid_Server INSTALLDIR="D:\Program Files\Softricity" SERVER_CONTENT_PATH="D:\content" DB_HOST=SGSQLSRV DB_USER=sa DB_PASS=sapassword DB_SERVICE=SOFTRICITY DB_SERVICE_IS_VALID=true DB_SCHEMA_IS_VALID=true /qb+
