Error message when you try to sequence Abra Suite in Microsoft SoftGrid: "The procedure entry point GetFileVersionInfoA could not be located in the dynamic link library VERSION.DLL"

SYMPTOMS

When you try to use Microsoft SoftGrid to sequence versions 7.3 and 7.4 of Abra Suite from Best Software, Inc., you receive the following error messages:
The procedure entry point GetFileVersionInfoA could not be located in the dynamic link library VERSION.DLL.
The VFP7R.DLL is invalid or damaged.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the Version.dll file is not added to the System Guard object exclusion list.

RESOLUTION

Warning Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly by using Registry Editor or by using another method. These problems might require that you reinstall the operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that these problems can be solved. Modify the registry at your own risk.

To resolve this problem, follow these steps:
  1. Exit the SoftGrid Sequencer.
  2. Open Registry Editor.
  3. Locate and then right-click the following registry subkey:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Softricity\SystemGuard\CurrentVersion\ObjExclusion
  4. Point to New, click String Value, and then type Version.dll.
  5. Right-click Version.dll, and then type Version.dll in the Value data box.
  6. Exit Registry Editor.
  7. Start the Sequencer, and then sequence Abra Suite.
The Version.dll file that is located in the Installation_path\Programs folder is not required. The correct file to use is in the %systemroot%\System32\Version.dll folder. After you add the Version.dll key to the registry, the Sequencer will not use the file that is located in the Installation_path\Programs folder.
