Symptoms

When you run the Remote Access Wizard on a Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2003-based computer, the Remote Access Wizard cannot configure the server for virtual private network (VPN) access. Additionally, the following errors are logged in the Application log:
Event Source: Service Control Manager
Event ID: 7024
Description: The Routing and Remote Access service terminated with service-specific error 127 (0x7F).
Event Source: RemoteAccess
Event ID: 20152
Description: The currently configured authentication provider failed to load and initialize successfully. The specified procedure could not be found.
The following information is also logged in the Rraslog.txt file.
	*** Configuring Remote Access Policy returned ERROR 8007007f
	Specifying error location returned OK
	*** CRRASCommit::CommitRRAS returned ERROR 8007007f
	*** Committing RRAS returned ERROR 8007007f
	*** CRRASCommit::CommitEx returned ERROR 8007007f

Cause

This problem may occur because an incorrect version of the Oledb32.dll file is on the computer.

Resolution

To resolve this problem, follow these steps:
  1. Make sure that the version of the Oledb32.dll file on the server is version 2.82.3959.0.

    Note To obtain this version of the file, you can copy the file from the Windows\ServicePackFiles\i386 folder. Or, you can install Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2 (SP2).
  2. Type the following command at a command prompt, and then press ENTER:
    regsvr32 oledb32.dll
  3. Restart the computer.
