SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft BizTalk Server 2004, the MessageBox_Message_Cleanup_BizTalkMsgBoxDb job may fail. If this problem occurs, you may receive an error message that resembles the following error message:
Arithmetic overflow error converting expression to data type int. [SQLSTATE 22003] (Error 8115). The step failed.
Additionally, you may receive a message in Event Viewer that resembles the following message:

Event Type: Warning
Event Source: SQLSERVERAGENT
Event Category: Job Engine
Event ID: 208
Description: SQLServer Scheduled Job 'MessageBox_Message_Cleanup_BizTalkMsgBoxDb' {GUID} - Stats: Failed - Invoked on datetime - Message: The job failed.

RESOLUTION

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.

Warning You cannot roll back this hotfix from the BizTalk Server environment. Therefore, make sure that you fully test this hotfix in a test environment before you apply this hotfix to a production environment. Do not try to use Add or Remove Programs to remove this hotfix because this does not roll back the database changes, and leaves the BizTalk Server environment in an inconsistent state.

Prerequisites

You must have BizTalk Server 2004 Service Pack 2 installed to apply his hotfix.

Restart requirement

You do not have to restart your computer after you apply this hotfix.
