After a Windows Vista-based computer resumes from hibernation, the computer waits 30 seconds before it starts connecting to a new wireless networkArticle ID: 953270 - View products that this article applies to. On This PageSYMPTOMSConsider the following scenario:
CAUSEThis issue occurs because the Nwifi.sys component waits 30 seconds for the wireless network scanning process to finish. If the original network cannot be found during this 30-second period, the computer tries to connect to a new wireless network from its preferred network list. RESOLUTIONA hotfix is available to reduce this 30-second delay to 10 seconds. Note If the computer takes longer than expected to connect to a wireless network, this hotfix may not resolve the issue to your satisfaction. This hotfix is intended only to reduce the length of the wireless network scanning process by 20 seconds. Hotfix informationA supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.If the hotfix is available for download, there is a "Hotfix download available" section at the top of this Knowledge Base article.
