This hotfix fixes the following issue that was not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:

When you try to open a Microsoft Office Word 2007 attachment or a Microsoft Office Excel 2007 attachment in an Outlook 2007 e-mail message, the attachment is slow to open. This issue may occur if Outlook uses a POP3 account.

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.
