Error message when you click the "Edit this Task" button on an e-mail message in Microsoft Office Outlook 2007: "An error occurred while retrieving the workflow task details"

You create a document list and a document approval workflow on a Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 site. When you upload a document to the document list, you receive a notification e-mail message in Microsoft Office Outlook 2007. When you click the Edit this Task button in the Outlook 2007 e-mail message, you receive the following error message:

To work around this issue, click the link that is in the body of the e-mail message that you received. This link performs the same function as the Edit this Task button.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
