Outlook 2007: ShowSenderPhoto OutlookAddin.Connect is listed in the Disabled Items dialog box after installing the February 24, 2009 Cumulative Update

After you install the February 24, 2009 Cumulative Update for Outlook 2007 you see the following entry listed in the Disabled Items dialog box:

   ShowSenderPhoto OutlookAddin.Connect



NOTE: You open the Disabled Items dialog box by selecting the Trust Center command on the Tools menu, clicking the Add-ins section of the Trust Center, selecting Disabled Items from the Manage drop-down and clicking the Go button. You can also open the Disabled Items dialog box by selecting the Disabled Items command on the Help menu.



However, the add-in is not listed on the main page of the Add-ins section of the Trust Center under “Disabled Application Add-ins”

The ShowSenderPhoto add-in is an add-in developed for internal use at Microsoft. It was added as a disabled add-in because older versions of the add-in are incompatible with Outlook after the February 24, 2009 Cumulative Update is installed. With this entry in the Disabled Items list, Outlook does not load this add-in if it is installed on a computer.

Even though it seems you can re-enable this add-in via the Disabled Items dialog box it does not appear under the “Active Application Add-ins” list and it does not execute any functioning add-in code. The item is simply a static text entry in the Disabled Items dialog box to prevent Outlook from loading older versions of this add-in. Also, if you exit and restart Outlook, the add-in appears once again in the Disabled Items list.
