SYMPTOMS

When you view agents by gateway in Microsoft System Center Operations Manager 2007, a computer may be listed in the Agent Managed pane of the Operations console with the same name as the gateway server that was just installed.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the gateway server was installed before you ran the Gateway Approval tool (Gatewayapprovaltool.exe).

RESOLUTION

If you installed the gateway server before you ran the Gateway Approval tool, follow these steps:
  1. Stop the Health Service (HealthService.exe) on the gateway server.
  2. Delete the gateway server from the management group.
  3. Run the Gateway Approval tool.
  4. Start the Health Service on the gateway server.
