The FSCController service cannot start successfully if a corrupted .fdb configuration file is loaded

SYMPTOMS

The FSCController service stops responding in a starting status, and then it stops a few minutes later. If you check the Programlog.txt file, you may see that a corrupted .fdb configuration file was loaded. Additionally, the following error message may be logged in the Programlog.txt file:
INFORMATION: The Forefront Server Security service is starting.
ERROR: scanjobs.cpp::ConfigScanJobFile(): AddNewScanJob() failed. hr[0x80030050]
ERROR: scanjobs.cpp::CheckScanJobs(): ConfigScanJobFile() failed. hr[0x80030050]
ERROR: The Scanjobs.fdb settings file is corrupt
ERROR: Forefront Server can be started with default settings by deleting or renaming the Scanjobs.fdb
ERROR: FSCController service failed to start
ERROR: healthmonitordiags.cpp::UnScheduleHealthUpdates(): CancelWaitableTimer returned 0x00000006
INFORMATION: The Forefront Server Security service has stopped.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, install Hotfix Rollup 3 for Microsoft Forefront Security for Exchange Server Service Pack 1.

After you install Hotfix Rollup 3 for Microsoft Forefront Security for Exchange Server Service Pack 1, the FSCController service can start successfully even if a corrupted .fdb configuration file is loaded.
