SYMPTOMS

When you try to use a foreign language dictionary in Microsoft PowerPoint 98 for the Macintosh, you may receive the following error message:
PowerPoint couldn't find the spelling file for language
where language is the dictionary that you are trying to use.

CAUSE

PowerPoint 98 can only access eight dictionaries at one time. If more than eight dictionaries are installed, PowerPoint loads the first eight dictionaries that are available in the Proofing Tools folder.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, remove some dictionaries from the Proofing Tools folder, which is located in the Shared Applications folder in the Microsoft Office 98 folder, until only eight are installed.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in PowerPoint 98 for the Macintosh.
