Slow performance when you open issues in PWA

SYMPTOMS

When you try to open an issue in Project Web Access (PWA), there may be a significant delay of as much as 30 seconds. This may occur for projects that contain a large number of issues. When you use Sharepoint Team Services (STS) to open the issue, the issue opens immediately.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because Microsoft Project Server 2002 queries the STS details one time for each issue. Projects that contain as many as 50 issues or more can result in extended delays.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Microsoft Project Server 2002 service pack that contains this hotfix.

The English version of this fix should have the following file attributes or later. The dates and times for these files are listed in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the "Time Zone" tab in the Date and Time tool in Control Panel.
