Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You have a computer that has Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 Release Candidate (RC) installed.

  • You create a Visual Basic workflow application or a .NET Framework 4-based Visual C# workflow application.

  • You try to type inside an expression field in the Workflow designer.

In this scenario, a completion list does not display. Additionally, you receive the following error message:

An exception has been encountered. This may be caused by an extension.

However, if you dismiss the error message and try again to type inside an expression field in the Workflow designer, a completion list still does not display, and you do not receive an error message.

Cause

This issue occurs because of a change in the presentation layer of the completion list. In this case, Workflow projects cannot create and display the completion list correctly.
