Fixes the following issue:

When you copy a chart from a Microsoft Excel 2010 workbook and then paste it into a presentation in Microsoft PowerPoint 2010, the font of axis title and legend title may be changed to the PMingLiU font unexpectedly. This issue occurs only when the display language is set to Japanese and both axis and legend titles contain DBCS characters.

Note To fix this issue, follow the instructions in the Registry information section.

Follow the steps in this section carefully. Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Before you modify it, back up the registry for restoration in case problems occur.

  1. Exit all Microsoft Office applications.

  2. Start Registry Editor:

    • In Windows 10, go to Start, enter regedit in the Search Windows box, and then select regedit.exe in the search results.

    • In Windows 8 or Windows 8.1, if you're using a mouse, move it to the upper-right corner, go to Search, enter regedit in the search text box, and then select regedit.exe in the search results.

    • In Windows 7, go to Start, enter regedit in the Search programs and files text box, and then select regedit.exe in the search results.

  3. Locate and then select the following registry entry:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Common\Office Graphics

  4. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then select DWORD Value.

  5. Enter DisablePasteLanguageAutodetect, and then press the Enter key.

  6. In the Details pane, press and hold (or right-click) DisablePasteLanguageAutodetect, and then select Modify.

  7. In the Value data box, enter 1, and then select OK.

  8. Exit Registry Editor.

Windows 10

  1. Go to Start, enter View Installed Updates in the Search Windows box, and then press Enter.

  2. In the list of updates, locate and then select update KB3085512, and then select Uninstall.

Windows 8 and Windows 8.1

  1. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then select Search. If you're using a mouse, point to the lower-right corner of the screen, and then select Search.

  2. Enter windows update, select Windows Update, and then select Installed Updates.

  3. In the list of updates, locate and then select update KB3085512, and then select Uninstall.

Windows 7, Windows Vista and Windows XP

  1. Go to Start, enter Run, and then select Run.

  2. Enter Appwiz.cpl, and then select OK.

  3. Use one of the following procedures, depending on the operating system that you're running.

    • Windows 7 and Windows Vista

      1. Select View installed updates.

      2. In the list of updates, locate and select update KB3085512, and then select Uninstall.

    • Windows XP

      1. Select the Show updates check box.

      2. In the list of updates, locate and select update KB3085512, and then select Remove.
