After you install Exchange 2000 Server or Exchange Server 2003, the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service may not start, and you may receive the following event ID messages in the Application event log:
Event Type: Error Event Source: MSExchangeIS Event Category: General Event ID: 1121 Date: 5/17/2000 Time: 10:24:43 AM User: N/A Computer: Computer_Name Description: Error 0x8004010f connecting to the Microsoft Active Directory. Event Type: Error Event Source: MSExchangeIS Event Category: General Event ID: 5000 Date: 5/17/2000 Time: 10:24:43 AM User: N/A Computer: Computer_Name Description: Unable to initialize the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service. This behavior may occur if the organization name that you select during setup contains the forward slash mark (/) character. For example, the name "Organization/Europe" causes this behavior.
This behavior may also occur if you have unchecked or removed the SMTP and X400 addresses from the default recipient policy. Versions of Microsoft Exchange Server that are earlier than Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 must have both SMTP and X400 proxy addresses specified and enabled for the default recipient policy.
