The whole Hotmail or MSN e-mail message is downloaded when you use the Download headers only option in Outlook 2002 and in Outlook 2003

When you try to download only the message headers for your e-mail messages in Microsoft Outlook, the whole e-mail message for your MSN Hotmail and your MSN, The Microsoft Network, e-mail accounts are downloaded. However, only the headers for your Microsoft Exchange e-mail account e-mail messages are downloaded.

This issue occurs because the Download headers only option only works for your Exchange account in your e-mail profile.

To use the Download headers only option for your Exchange e-mail account, follow these steps:

1. In Outlook, click Options on the Tools menu.
2. On the Mail Setup tab, click Send/Receive.
3. In the Send/Receive Groups dialog box, click your group name such as All Accounts, and then click Edit.
4. In the Send/Receive Setting - AccountName dialog box, under Folder Options, click Inbox.
   
   Note The Inbox check box should already be selected. Do not click to clear the Inbox check box.
5. With the Inbox selected, click Download headers only, and then click OK.
6. Click Close to close the Send/Receive Groups dialog box.
7. Click OK to close the Options dialog box.

To work around this issue, select the Download headers option for Outlook Connector. To do this in Outlook, click Outlook Connector, point to Download Mode, and then click Download Headers.
